The most successful working mums that I know are the ones that are super organised. They know how to motivate themselves and what time of day to face their greatest challenges.
GETTING ORGANISED
One of the big secrets to being confident as a working mum is to be super organised. One way of being super organised is to start by decluttering your life. Go into any room in your house armed with a garbage bag and throw in the bag as many things as you can that you haven’t used in the last six months. When you step out of the room look in the bag and if there’s something you still feel attached to, then store it in the garage for 1 month. If you don’t use it in that time-out it goes!
Another great way of making sure that clutter doesn’t build up is when something comes into the house e.g. your mail- either do it, dump it or delegate it. That is, act upon it then and there, discard the item entirely or delegate it for someone else to take some action on it. Make sure you give them a deadline.
MAKE A LIST
Something as simple as making a list of the things I plan to do the next day helps my mind unwind, so that I can get to sleep without worrying about the next day’s responsibilities.
MOTIVATION
Write a list of three things that motivate you. Use these next time you’re feeling low on energy.
OWL OR FOWL
Think about when you do your best work. Is it first thing in the morning or is it late at night?
Use this information to your greatest value by doing those most challenging working mum tasks in the time frame that suits you the best personally.
So, come on girls, let’s get organised so we can increase our confidence levels.
20 MINUTES WELL SPENT
In my own family I use this most nights to make sure that I’m always prepared for the next day. I spend 20 minutes each night getting ready for the next day. That can include any activity from tidying up the lounge room to packing work bags, school lunches or choosing my clothes for the next day.
